The plates are legible enough, but I DON'T LIKE THE TYPEFACE!

Out-of-State Plates 15

Today, Florida.

Sea Turtle specialty plate.

No county name to deter criminal elements.
(Several years ago a couple renting a car in South Florida were robbed and killed.
The criminals figured it was a rental from the county it was registered in.)

Self-explanatory. Oo-rah!

This one has the name of the county it's from.
Rare these days.

Florida Panther specialty plate.

(Rude message in the surround censored.)

Out-of-State Plates 11

Today, Colorado.

(No such town as Metairie, Colorado)

There was also a green mountain, white sky plate but Google has a habit of loading i-phone pics taken "upside down" as actually upside down, even if you correct the pic's orientation first.

August 19, 2014 - Here it is! I got it to show right-side up.

Out-of-State Plates 10

I tried repeatedly to get a second Arizona plate pic up, but it kept being loaded upside down! Arrrgggh...

Anyway, here's today's offerings: California.

Auto registration plate with a surround plate.

Cool surround plate typeface!

Motorcycle plate.

From 1999 - very old. Note the open top "4" California uses.
Much more readable than the closed top "4" almost every other state uses.
The open top version should be mandatory for all road signs, too.

19 August 2014 - This one is ancient - from the late 1970s or early 1980s.
Note the "Art Deco Revival" design and typeface at the top of the plate.
Also the plate number begins with the repeat cycle numeral "2".

Blecch!

First: the UK.

Looks like this car was imported from Scotland!

First State, Alaska.

Happy Independence Day, everybody. Will it be damn good? You betcha!
