Out-of-State Plates 52

ARU - Aruba.

This plate was found in JW's Burger Bar, 17 The New Driftway, Scituate, Mass.
MI - Michigan

More Pure Michigan - this is a US Olympic team vanity plate.

NH - New Hampshire

The old "Man of the Mountain" memorial plate.

Out-of-State Plates 51

Today is Vermont: the Green Mountain State. The plates are no-nonsense green plates with white legend.

Someone bought the vehicle in Louisiana, registered it in Vermont.
(S)he keeps it in New Orleans!!!!!

This one is a little more discreet.

This one's not an official plate, but it looks like it could be one.
An older-style vanity plate, that is!

Out-of-State Plates 50a

A Virginia Bumper Sticker!

Looks like the previous governor Bob McDonnell had allowed the roads of Virginia fall into deterioration.  And the present governor Terry McAuliffe? Probably doing the same exact thing. With the amount of extra funding they get from Washington, they have no excuse!

Out-of-State Plates 50

Today, Virginia. The Old Dominion.

A vanity plate, in the old style.

Old style, regular alpha-numerical sequence.

Newer style, vanity plate.

Newer style, another vanity plate.

"Friends of the Chesapeake" legacy plate.

Out-of-State Plates 49

Today's State: Utah: the Beehive State.

Otherwise known as "Deseret".

These two feature the natural arch at  Moab, Arches National Park.
Very pretty design. Good color contrast for legibility, too.
This is an earlier motif to promote skiing.

Out-of-State Plates 48

Today, is Texas. The Lone Star State.

First the old style. Despite the busywork around the perimeter, the plates are quite legible.

And now the new styles. The typeface for the plate number I think is horrible. You can't read it at a safe following distance along the expressway!

First, the plain black and white plates.
The number and letters are all smushed.

And now the fancy "Lone Star State" motif.
I think the old version is better.
And now specialty plates - Disabled Veterans.

And "Keep Texas Wild" plate.

Out-of-State Plates 47.

Today's state is Tennessee.

New standard plates showing green hills.
This is actually realistic of most of the landscape.
Tennessee Realtor plate.
I do NOT like the vertical 'TR'.
Great Smoky Mountains national Park.
I do NOT like the vertical 'NP'.
All letters and numbers should be the same size.

Out-of-State Plates 46

Today is South Dakota: The Four Presidents' State.

This is just a sample.
No SD plates found in New Orleans to photo.

Out-of-State Plates 45

Plates captured on digital round-about New Orleans. Today we have South Carolina: The Palmetto State.

Very impossible to read when the plate is in the shade.
The blue and orange sunset motif obscures the numbers.

Much better in full sunlight.

And it's okay in partial light.
Second handsomest plate, although the moon should be in the upper left corner.

In GOD we trust.
Less said, the better.

Plain tractor-trailer plate.

Out-of-State Plates 44

Today's State: Rhode Island. That's where Quahog is.

This was on a compact pick-up truck.

And this was on an SUV.
Sorry, I didn't find any 1980s-model Ford LTD cartoon station wagons. That would've been sweet!

Out-of-State Plates 43

Today's state is... Pennsylvania. The Keystone State.

Regular vehicle sequence, "TRUCK" banner at the bottom.

This style's for paseenger cars.

And here they went for fancy banners.
Note the fading and the different typeface.
At least they didn't change the plate number typeface.

A much older plate: note the very simple style.

Out-of-State Plates 41

Today: Oklahoma (where the wind comes sweeping down the plain).

Both are the new "native America" edition.
With a clear, easy-to-read typeface with no busywork behind it.
Indubitably the most handsome registration plates in the world!

Out-of-State Plates 40

Today: Ohio, Birthplace of Aviation.

State Bicentennial edition.

"Round at the ends and hi in the middle"
Here they had to go to seven digits.

Farm and Town edition.

State Slogans edition.
