BC - British Columbia. Canada-on-the-Pacific.

Simple and direct. And legible.

 

VI - US Virgin Islands. "American Paradise."

 

Something tells me these boats and fish shouldn't be here.

I'm from New Orleans, Louisiana and so I am posting only pictures of auto registration plates that are from outside the state.

Here's the first one, from Ontario in Canada:

British Columbia Route Markers.

Just go back to the old style with the cut corner letters!

British Columbia recently has switched over to Helvetica typeface. Not only is it ugly for a road sign, it is not, in my opinion, the most legible. Compared to cut-corners typeface, I think it is a step backwards to illegibility and bad aesthetics.

North Island Route, Route 19.

Crowsnest Highway Route 3 --

both in Helvetica!

The Clearview typeface actually looks good compared to Helvetica!

And the blue for the numbers and border need to be darker.

Newfoundland and Labrador

An idea for Newfoundland and Labrador. The present sign is a drab white square on a green field, with contrasting numbers and letters.

This is the old sign, no longer in use.

And this is my retro-style suggestion, using the province's tourism logo.

Nova Scotia.

Here are my ideas for Nova Scotia. Although its present Arterial (1xx) route markers are interesting, its present Trunk Highway and Collector Highway route markers are rather drab.

A suggestion for their Arterials that are built to freeway and tollway standards.

A suggestion for their Trunk Highways.

(The present is a cutout-style US-Route shield border on a white square.)

And a suggestion for their Collector Highways.

(The present consists of white letters and border on a Tuscan red, i.e. brown, square.)

More Ontario Signs.

I had posted previous an idea for Ontario's Expressway route markers.

Well I have some more up my sleeve!

Here's another Ontario Expressway route marker idea.

 This time more similar to Quebec's Autoroute route marker signs.

And this can be for the principal Provincial Highways.

Ontario.

An idea for Ontario's 4-lane Highways. Also in smaller scale at R.V. Droz's The Great International Highway Makeover - Ontario page.

Prince Edward Island.

This one is similar to what the province posts now, but with some more colour.

This is the existing route marker. Simple enough. 

This was my first idea. A bit more colour, but no pizzaz. 

Now this is much better! I like it! I like it! I like it!

Plus, it would remind tourists in the summer, winter and spring to return for autumn.
